Requirements for Tax Advisor Programs

If you want to keep up with the changes of the tax law and the tax consultants and other industry issues, you can undergo certification on tax consultants. There are various national agencies which offer these certifications. 
The institute of the tax consultants and the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT) offer course of tax advisor in Harrow.  The Institute of Tax Consultants will offer certifications in the areas of partnerships, corporations and non-profit organizations.  After completion of this course, you can become a tax advisor.
In order to qualify for this certification, the candidates have to submit a letter of recommendation from the client.  Be a graduate of the tax program and have three years of experience. After completion of the approved research topic, you can opt for the master’s degree through the Institute of Tax Consultants.  ACAT offers certification for each specialty.
The tax advisors must complete 60 hours of education coursework. Even an additional 5 years is required for each specialty. The tax advisors must earn education credits every three years in order to renew certification with ACAT.   
If you are interested in preparing taxes and you hold no experience at all, you can take a course in tax preparation. There are various courses offered in tax preparation business, in colleges and Internet.
A good tax consultant must stay up to date for the changes made to state, federal, country, and the local tax codes. Some of the tax consultants are specialized in specific area, like estate planning.
There are certain considerations for a tax advisor:

  • The tax advisor must be at least 18. The rules of obtaining a license vary in different states.   The applicant has to demonstrate a working knowledge of the tax law procedures and have to provide experience proof in the trade. 
  • Most of the tax consulting firms prefer a minimum high school diploma. The employers in this field search for the candidates who have undergone specialized courses. In order to stay upgraded on new tax law information, many of the licensed tax advisors go for specializations in tax programs.
  • Tax consultants have to provide tax documents for inconsistencies. You may be penalized for negligence and failure to sign the prepared forms.
  • The tax advisors can stay current in the knowledge of tax laws that changes frequently. A tax preparer may attend professional tax preparation seminars or can take continuous education courses by National Society of Tax Professionals.
